Voici une mouche qui va sûrement réduire des bredouilles sur les truites hyper sélectives lors des éclosions d’éphémères, sedges et même peut être de chiros! Le principe c’est que cette mouche “flotte” au dessous de la pellicule de l’eau sans besoin d’hackles, poils, CDC ou mousse.
Bien sûr, les mouches faites avec ces matériaux marchent la plupart du temps mais pas toujours! J’avais remarqué que souvent les truites “gobent” uniquement sur les nymphes ascendantes et ignorent totalement tout ce qui flotte en surface ou même collé dans la pellicule. En fait, les mouches qui flottent font une double image vu d’en dessous et à mon avis cela ne plaît pas aux truites quand elles prennent les nymphes uniquement. La sub-merger est soutenue d’une petite bulle d’air en plastique qui la fait monter, mais pas dépasser (ou presque), la pellicule. Cependant il faut éviter d’écraser la bulle en la dégagant de la gueule d’un poisson. Sinon la sub-merger transformera en noyée, coulant lentement. J’aurai bientôt un outil dégorgeoir en vente conçu spécialement pour les sub-mergers.
La sub-merger c’est une mouche à sortir de votre boîte quand vos favoris habituelles ne font plus l’affaire!

Here is a fly which will revolutionise emerger fishing during hatches of mayflies, sedges and even perhaps midge. The principal of the fly is that it is designed to float just under the surface film WITHOUT being supported by anything on the surface. This is extremely important since every other emerger relies on hackle, hair, CDC or foam all of which need to remain on the surface. Most of the time these work just fine but when trout are locked on to ascending nymphs taking them just under the surface it’s time to tie on a sub-merger! Greasing your leader may allow to hang a nymph close to the surface but not just under the film and you also end up with a pronounced imprint of the leader which is not good in slow moving crystal clear water.
Don’t expect to catch dozens of fish with the same fly. The sub-merger is delicate – it’s the nature of the beast! Retrieving the sub-merger from a trout’s mouth (or obstacle) is difficult to achieve without squeezing the air out of the bubble but I will soon have a specially designed hook removal tool on sale to help prolong the life of the fly.
I strongly recommend that you have a couple in your fly box for those occasions when nothing else will work.
