SBN Submerger

$7.00

This little gem is a game breaker! It’s designed to “float” just beneath the surface to imitate hatching nymphs in either a mayfly or caddis (and perhaps even a midge although not as yet tested) hatch.

The weight of the fly is supported by an air bubble which allows the fly to evolve just below the surface film. Unlike other emergents, this one does not rely on hackle, hair, foam, CDC etc. which are above the surface to float it. This avoids a double image and trout, even in glassy glides will take this fly with a careful presentation.

There is a down side in that the sub-merger is difficult to remove from a trout’s jaw without crushing the bubble. If that happens the fly then becomes a slow sinking wet fly which may be useful in certain situations. A new hook removal tool designed to help increase the longevity of the sub-merger will soon be available.
